And the other way round: anyone wanting to submit a document issued abroad to the Swiss authorities often needs an apostille from the country of origin plus a certified translation. The most common case: your birth certificate or marriage certificate was issued abroad and needs to be submitted in Switzerland – for example to the civil register office. The document often has to carry an apostille from its country of origin. We translate it and have the translation notarised so that you can present it to the Swiss authorities.
Swiss document, foreign consulate
If your destination country is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, an apostille is not valid there – in that case, as a rule, an additional second certification by the destination country’s consulate is needed before you can submit the document there. The chain looks like this: translation → notarisation → super-legalisation (legalisation) → consulate.
