The application to your dream university, the job with a new employer, the recognition procedure at SERI or another recognition body: a dossier of diplomas, certificates and transcripts often decides the next step in your career – and the translation has to convince at first glance. UniTranslate translates educational credentials into more than 100 languages, certified on request, carefully checked and in time for your deadline.
From the baccalaureate certificate to the transcript of records
We translate every document of your educational path: baccalaureate and school certificates, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral diplomas, transcripts of records and grade overviews, Federal VET Diplomas (EFZ) and federal certificates of proficiency, continuing education certificates as well as course and internship confirmations. Enclosures such as diploma supplements or study plan descriptions are also covered – recognition bodies in particular frequently want a complete dossier in which all documents are translated consistently.
The receiving authorities are as varied as the occasions: the admissions office of a university in Switzerland or abroad, the HR department of a future employer, SERI or another recognition body for regulated professions, a professional organisation or a register. Each of these offices has its own rules on the form in which translations are to be submitted – often certified, sometimes digital, sometimes on paper. Tell us where your dossier is being submitted, and we will deliver the appropriate variant.
Rendering grading systems and degree titles correctly
A 6 is the top grade in Switzerland and the opposite in Germany – and a “Licenciatura” degree cannot simply be labelled a “Bachelor”. Serious certificate translations therefore do not convert on their own authority: we reproduce grades and titles faithfully, explain the original grading scale in a note and leave the classification to the receiving authority, which is responsible for it. This gives universities, employers and recognition bodies exactly the transparent basis they need for their assessment.
Employment references: capturing the tone, not just the words
Swiss employment references follow their own linguistic conventions – phrases such as “always to our fullest satisfaction” carry meaning that a literal translation would miss. Our native-speaker translators render employment references so that the appreciation and performance assessment come across in the target language exactly as intended. This works in both directions: we also translate foreign reference letters so that Swiss HR departments can interpret them correctly. On request, we translate your entire application set at the same time – CV and cover letter included, tailored to the conventions of the destination country.

FAQ
Does the university need a certified translation of my diploma?+
Many universities and recognition bodies require certified translations, while some also accept simple specialised translations. The final, binding decision always rests with the official receiving authority – check its guidance sheet or ask us, and we will advise you free of charge.
Are grades converted into the Swiss system?+
No – a translation reproduces your grades faithfully and explains the original grading scale, but does not convert it. The assessment and classification are carried out by the receiving authority itself; that is exactly why an accurate, neutral translation is so important.
Can I submit several documents together?+
Yes, and it even makes sense: diploma, transcript and employment references from a single source are terminologically consistent – the study programme, degree title and institution names are identical across all documents. Simply upload all your scans together.
How quickly will I receive the translation for an application deadline?+
During office hours you receive a quote with a binding delivery date within 30 minutes. If your application deadline is pressing, we deliver express within 12 to 24 hours – as a PDF with a qualified electronic signature (QES) or by registered post.
Do I have to send in my original diploma?+
No, a clearly legible scan or a photo is enough. Your original diploma stays with you; the certified translation is attached to a copy of the document you submitted.
